WordPress is web software you can use to create a beautiful website or blog. We like to say that WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.

The core software is built by hundreds of community volunteers. When you’re ready for more there are thousands of plugins and themes available. This will transform your site into almost anything you can imagine. For instance, over 60 million people have chosen WordPress to power the place on the web they call “home”. So we’d love you to join the family.

5) Write Your First Blog Post
This is easier than it sounds! Typically, a blog post should be 500 words or more. Research your niche and try to offer value to your readers.

6) Customize WordPress functionality with Plugins
How to Install WordPress Plugins is another video tutorial you can look through here. Most popular are form generators and spam removers.

7) Setup Google Analytics Tracking
Check out our video on how to SEO optimize your site (which includes How to Setup Google Analytics Tracking). This data will be very useful to show you where your visitors come from and how they behave when they are on your site.

8) Optimize Your Website for SEO
Arguably the most important aspect of running a blog. You can make your site as pretty as you like. However, if no-one knows about it, it’s pointless! Check out the instructional vid on How to Optimize Your Website for SEO.

Part Three

9) Promote your Blog
Optimizing SEO is making sure that search engines can find and categorise your content. This means that when somebody searches for a subject (e.g. on Google or Bing) they will be directed to your site. However, it’s also a good idea to promote your content on social networks. Creating a fan page on Facebook or Linked In can drive a healthy amount of traffic if your content is good. Another way to reach more readers is to use Google Ads to put your content in front of people searching for relevant subjects. Needless to say, this is a whole topi in itself. 10) Make your Blog pay for itself.
There’s nothing more satisfying than reaping the fruits of your labour. There are number of options open to get the green coming in.
a) Google Adsense. Google will pay you everytime somebody clicks on an advert they ask you to display on your site.
b) Affiliate marketing. This is similar to Adsense, but it is more personal. Usually it is a high quality service or product that you have personal experience of. If you Google “Affiliate Marketing” a wholoe universe will open up before your eyes!
c) eCommerce. Selling stuff online. Whatever you can make – Dream Catchers, Dog Jumpers, Oil paintings. You can create an online store in no time using WordPress and WooCommerce.
