There are many ways you can speed up your website. Here are a few of our favourites :
- Increase your WordPress maximum memory Allocation
- Install opcache and version 7 of php (making sure that your themes and plugins run on V7)
- Use a CDN
- Install a Caching plugin for your WP site.
A caching plugin generates static html files from your dynamic WordPress blog. After a html file is generated your webserver will serve that file instead of processing the comparatively heavier and more expensive WordPress PHP scripts.
One cached file can be served thousands of times. Some visitors may need to be served custom cached files tailored to their visit. If they are logged in, or have left comments those details will be displayed and cached for them.
One of the best WP caching plugins around is the excellent WP Super cache. This plugin was written by Automattic, the people behind WordPress, so you know it’s going to be a great product from the start!
